Customizable Settings: Weather and Infection

Customizable Settings: Weather and Infection  One of the things I like about 7 Days is the option to customize my playthroughs by tweaking the settings to add new challenges. I play with more frequent horde nights (every 3 days, 60 zombies), delete gear/backpack on death, and insane base difficulty. To compensate for the sense of urgency this creates, and to keep the game moving, I turn up XP gain (300%) and loot (200%). I enjoy the challenge of playing on these settings but the majority of folks I’ve played with hate, hate, hate losing everything if they die, like having ample time to build sick horde bases, and generally just wanna’ loot and shred zombies. That’s fine, there’s settings for that, just as there are mods for more and terrifying zombies. Without going down “mod overhaul” road though there’s still a few vanilla version settings that could be added to make the game more immersive. Weather: It’s afternoon of day 2 in the snow biome and I’m running pretty much bare

Level Up: Fellowers not Followers

This leans on my background in psychology and comes from my enjoyment in seeing people grow and learn. I hope doing this adds fun for those who watch and becomes a way to find some fellowship. There’re people behind the screennames, not followers, gotta’ treat each other as such. Enough of the ooshy gooshy, let’s talk levels. Just like we get upgrades in 7 Days, Heroes, and Crucible you can now upgrade your character using channel points. There are four abilities you can put your points into loosely based on the perks in 7 Days: Perception, Agility (combined with Strength), Resilience (instead of Fortitude), and Intelligence. You’ll get one point for each level with five levels available per ability (examples: level one , level four ). Don’t be fooled though, as your level gets higher the quests become more involved and require more channel points. For full deets on how much each level goes for and how to earn points you can check here . Perception: It’s important to see things a

Three Lefts Make a Right

What to add…what to add…  I don’t know much about coding. I took computer programming in high school where we touched on C++ but what I remember most was Karel++. We had to make this little robot navigate a maze (I swear this relates to 7 Days). We coded left turns first and then, instead of redoing the code, we coded a right turn as three left turns. Was pretty funny watching the little guys spin left to go right but it worked. Down the road in college “can only turn left” was one of my favorite King’s Cup rules, but that’s beside the point. Programming is still beyond my reach and thinking about the Karel robot I imagine it isn’t very efficient; but I think there is still a lesson to be learned here.   Can the programmers of 7 Days add what they’ve already been using? Instead of making brand new stuff they can re-purpose mechanics which might make some of these suggestions quicker and easier. I enjoy reading the suggestions on Reddit but I worry some of them are far-fetched for

Fellowship of Kickass

I've played on these settings quite a bit but was unable to find a dedicated server that had all of them where I wanted. It’s tough to play it solo which is why I’m inviting you, the few with enough kickass, to join me in the Fellowship of Kickass. Here are the settings, why they’re challenging, and some strategies I’ve developed along the way.   Insane difficulty – Pretty self-explanatory. Zombies do a lot of damage and take a lot of damage. This makes early game incredibly hard. Weapons that would carry you through those first couple days relatively easy won’t. Bows and blunderbuss take a ton of ammo for a kill and since zombies pick up speed when you hit them, fighting more than one at a time can spell disaster. Two work-arounds are to build wood traps and hope they run into them before you do and/or to use wood blocks in doorways and repair them while you melee 25 times (no joke).   Loot (100% - does not respawn) – With the new loot table it can take to day 4 or 5 until you
